Word Chain

Political blogging requires mostly research and the desire to tell the world you have political ideas. Ideas you want to share with people. I try to provide discussion, analysis and relevant topics from current U.S. political news.

Sometimes, I like to play, so for this session here are a few word chains, related in some twisted way, to the current political situation. LOL.

Political Word Changes

I can change black to white, by changing one letter at a time:  black, blank, blink, clink, chink, chine, whine, white

I can change give to take, by changing one letter at a time: give, live, like, lake, take

I can change tears to smile, by changing one letter at a time: tears, scars, stars, stare, stale, stile, smile

I can change poor to rich, by changing one letter at a time: poor, boor, book, rook, rock, Rick, rich

I can change hate to love by changing one letter at a time: hate, rate, rave, cave, cove, love

Thank you Rod L Evans, Ph.D (taken directly from his book Tyrannosaurus Lex)

Fun and amazing, huh?

I wonder if Donald Trump can change treason to impeach by changing one letter at a time, or impeach to imprison?

Can Trump Change Impeach to Imprison

De-construction Of The Cabinet Departments

Wow! I’m Finally Getting It.
And My Knees Are Shaking

Probably, because I am writing a political blog, and try to watch all the political shows and read several newspapers each day including the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times and the Oregonian have I been especially aware of the people that Trump has begun announcing as his cabinet and other department heads. I have been shocked and disgusted by half of them.  I just thought we were talking stupid, corrupt, and incompetent, but my eyes have been opened.  What opened my eyes was Steve Bannon’s speech to the C-PAC.  Once I understood why half of these people were nominated, I was no longer just shocked and disgusted, I was alarmed.  My new awareness has convinced me that the Trump Administration’s primary goal is the “de-construction” of the government one department at a time.

The Perils of Indifference

Elie Wiesel, teacher, writer, philosopher and Auschwitz death camp survivor, said in a speech before the US Congress in 1999, “indifference can be tempting-more than that, seductive.  It is much easier to look away from victims.  It is after all, awkward and troublesome to be involved in another person’s pain and despair.”

Three Types Of People, The Perpetrator, The Victim, The Bystander

Furthermore, “to be indifferent to that suffering makes the human being, inhuman.  Indifference is always the friend of the enemy, for it benefits the aggressor-never the victim, whose pain is magnified when he or she feels forgotten.  The political prisoner, the starving children, the homeless refugees-not to respond to their plight, not to relieve their solitude by offering them a spark of hope is to exile them from human memory.  And in denying their humanity, we betray our own.  Indifference, then, is not only a sin, it is a punishment.  Where I came from, society was composed of three simple categories: the killers, the victims, and the bystanders.”

The Guilt Of Doing Nothing

Today’s “bystanders,” want to look away from the victims, to look anywhere but in the direction of the suffering.

“I’m a good person,” President Trump said last week during a news conference.   A man with a heart, he tells us.  Why then Mr. President do you ignore the plight of the Syrian refugees?   The plight of these children is horrific.  We have all seen television clips of bloodied, crying and even dead Syrian children.  I have seen their pain.  I have heard their pleas.

Preisent Trump, are you listening, are you seeing, or are you just another bystander?

We are the wealthiest country on earth and home of the most generous people on earth and our basic instinct is to help, not turn away.  The American people want to help the world absorb the displaced refugees of Syria.

Refugees Escape Syrian Holacaust

Give hope to those 1200 refugees currently housed by Australia.  Come on President Trump, don’t continue to look away, show your heart, show that “goodness” you were bragging about.

25 Things To Make You Smile

I am back at the computer making my second post to my Calamity Politics blog, today.  Before I started this blog, I worried that I wouldn’t have enough to scream about, but I’m finding that I could probably do half a dozen posts a day related to the Trump Administration, and its basket of corruption.  But I thought, before I start my rant on the collapse of the progressive agenda. I should deliver something positive and uplifting.

So, here are twenty-five things to make you smile:

New War on Marijuana

I’ve Got My Coffee, I’ve Got My Cinnamon Roll

It’s Saturday morning.  I’ve got my coffee.  I’ve got my cinnamon roll.  I’ve got my doobie.  The dog is at my feet.  All is good in my world.

That is until, I see that lying bloated Sean Spicer taking up television space, warning of a renewed federal crackdown on recreational marijuana.  Really?  Let me say that again.  Really?  When is the United States government going to abandon its 50 year old failed drug policies?   It has cost billions, and ruined thousands of human lives.  Similar ‘police approach’ policies have been abandoned in most civilized countries.  Elsewhere, social awareness has led governments to treat and educate, instead of imprison.  But then, they don’t have ‘for profit’ prisons.

I had hopes that we would take a look at policing and criminalization of marijuana at the Federal level with a new administration, unfortunately, I’m afraid we are headed to deeper and more frightening steps to the complete militarization of the police departments of the United States.

Bannon Blocks Out the Light at C-PAC

Steve Bannon is that dark shadow behind President Trump. We, here in the blogosphere, probably will never know the depth of Bannon’s impact on the President’s policy development, but he is a noted white supremacist, a chaos creator, a “de-constructor,” and former owner of Breitbart, the right wing conspiracy theory rag.

Calamity Politics has been watching Mr. Bannon. Bannon is big on the political news scene right now. However, there isn’t anything I’ve seen yet, that has in anyway, convinced me this man should even be allowed close to the seat of power. I don’t want this guy influencing ANYTHING related to the United States government.

Trump Gave Bannon Keys To Government

Government is about stability. People depend on stability. People depend on government service. My analysis of Bannon from a purely political stand point, is get rid of this guys ASAP. Bannon will do everything within his power to push Trump to the farthest corner of the right political hemisphere and will argue for de-funding departments, cutting services, building walls, and instituting Muslim bans. Furthermore, I believe in the current political environment in the United States anyone could successfully argue that Bannon will agitate any situation he is involved in.

Bannon Agitates Every Situation

This week’s annual C-PAC meet has been a head shaker.

It is obviously time for these folks to rethink their name.  Looking at the  speakers list and the political direction they are advocating, its obvious that conservatism is dead in the Trump Party.  They should plan a funeral and bury that tattered old conservative label.  Truthfully, I’ve never seen a bigger collection of mega-spenders in my life.  Throw out the budget, throw out taxes, throw out regulations!  Let the robber barons ride again!

Mr. Bannon, eulogized the current world order. Bannon proclaimed it was going to be a “daily fight” with the press, identified as the “opposition.”  His rhetoric brought cheers and foot stomping from a friendly crowd.  With the crowd hanging on every word, he dazzled them with a series of big words. The most striking to my ears, was when he said,  “deconstruct the administrative state.”  “Administrative state?”  The “administrative state?”  Wow, that’s scary.  How did we let such a thing happen? What are we going to do?

No, worries, Bannon cajoles the C-PAC attendees, “Trump is maniacal.”  That of course drew a huge round of applause.  Strange, very, very, strange.

I’m still chewing on Steve Bannon’s “deconstruct the administrative state.”   Wait a minute.  Is he advocating deconstruction of the government?  Well, hell yeah, that’s what we ought to do!  Deconstruct the government.

De-construct The Government Means Chaos

Holy shit!  How far do they intend to “deconstruct”?  Until we are another, Mogadishu?  The biggest outlaw bully winning every round? Sounds scary as hell, to me.

I object, and I will continue to object.  One of the reasons we have the exceptional life we have in the United States, is because of government.  We need the stability that government provides.  Get real folks, we should be embracing government.

Embrace Government Embrace Stability

Government IS NOT a dirty word.   Government is our roads, government is our schools, government is our postal service, government is our fire fighters, government is our policemen.   We need to protect these benefits of a civilized society.  We need to build, not deconstruct.

Yoda Has A Message For Steve Bannon

It’s been a long time since I took my young son and stood in a very long line to see the first Star Wars movie. After, seeing it, I had to admit the movie did a good job of promoting solid basic values. I never thought, writing a political blog, my Calamity politics site, would bring me back to that fine great movie series that keeps entertaining and educating and captivating young people even after 3 decades.

There’s a lot going on in U.S. politics and today rather than do a political analysis of the current events cycle I am going to let Yoda speak quietly to Steve Bannon and let his wisdom be my political comment of the day.

Steve Bannon.

Darkness Is Good Says Steve Bannon

http://www.calamitypolitics.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=173&action=edit
You know, that weird looking guy you see schlumping around in the background at Trump functions?  The one that looks like he slept in the subway.  You know who I mean?  The guy that’s the real president of the United States.  Anyway, President Bannon, told the NY Times that he likens himself to the “dark force of Star Wars”.   In fact, “all my friends call me Darth.   Darkness is good.  Dick Cheney.  Darth Vader.  Satan.  That’s power.”
Yoda, warns President Bannon, “No, no, no.  Quicker, easier, more seductive, but not stronger.  Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.”

The Dark Side Is Easier Not Stronger

Merkley Method Sets a Fire

Another day in paradise, truly. When you are fortunate enough to live on the Oregon coast you have reached Valhalla. Thank God, there’s only a few of us here. Many advantages for a writer. Quiet, incredible beauty and very little political discussion in my little corner of the United States.

My Little Corner Of The World

The foundation and eventual opening of Calamity Politics started, even though I had no political posts, the night Donald Trump won the presidential election. I have never had such a visceral reaction to a U.S. presidential election in my life.

Nauseated, Visceral Reaction to Trump Win

I became physically sick watching the returns flow in. Devastating to any progressive person. Truly, not just the progressive but, most citizens of the United States. If you are on Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, ACA, need VA services, if you are a person of color, if you want clean drink water to drink, or want clean air to breath, President Trump’s extreme right wing agenda will most likely have a negative effect on your daily life, and the quality of that life.

Russian Flags Over the White House

I went to bed and fell asleep with the TV on.  The station played while I slept fitfully.  Visions of red, white, and blue, twisted weirdly on a brisk breeze over the White House.   But in my confused sleep, I knew something was wrong.  Something was very wrong.

In my sleep, I couldn’t make sense of it.  What the fuck?  Why does the flag look so strange?  Where are the stars?  OMG.  The stripes aren’t the stripes of My flag, and My country.  The flag flying over this White House, is the tri-stripe red, white, and blue of Russia.

Russian Flag Was Flying Over The White House

My eyes flew open.  Joe and Mika were talking with the usual crowd at the “Morning Joe” conference table about the General Mike Flynn resignation.  I shook my head. The rest of the story centered on Trump Campaign oficials having been in “continuous” contact with Russian officials throughout the 2016 Presidential campaign.

No wonder I’m having nightmares.

I know there is a whole lot of political wrangling going on in the Congress. Democrats smell a Russian rat circling the Trump Administration and want to engage in a political conversation regarding the possible effects of Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. The Republicans, in control of House, Senate and the Executive Branch are in the middle of a election high and don’t want to see the Russian rat. It is up to the Loyal Opposition to make our Republican brothers and sisters see the Russian rat for the danger it is. The press and the political bloggers are trying to fan the flames to draw attention to the fire, but right now the Republicans are drunk with power and can’t see the fire for the smoke.

Republicans Can’t See The Fire For All The Smoke

8 Donald Trump Mind Benders

For me, staying on track, with so many political news stories slamming me in the face, seemingly every minute is a bit hard. My number one intention with Calamity Politics, is to become a platform for the progressive political agenda, through reporting and opinion with my daily political blog posts.

Daily Report on US political Headline News

Although, I admittedly have a progressive political agenda, I try to stay relatively objective in my reporting on the daily political scene. I attempt to use a minimum of two sources for each story. I frequently make a commentary amidst the post, however, my goal is to give you news. I have an Editor section where I am much more likely to go on a screaming tirade, than on my main daily political post. If I forget that goal, I give my readers permission to remind me of my shortcomings. Mostly I just want people to become involved. Read Calamity Politics, follow me on Twitter and Facebook. U.S. Politics is a rough and tumble world of scandal, bribery, conflict of interest and self-aggrandizement. Join me for the show.

1). Trump’s Adult Children Send Security Costs Through the Roof

I was watching a political show yesterday, and the commentator did a quick piece on Eric and Donald, Jr.    It seems the Secret Service is providing protection to all the Trump children, while they gallop around the planet vacationing or doing Trump real estate deals.   Why so short a spot, I wonder?  It definitely deserves more attention.  People should be screaming.   I was.   The cost of this foolishness is, as yet, unreported, but I am alarmed.  I want to know, how much is this costing the US taxpayer?

Why, in God’s name is the Secret Service providing security for the adult children of President Trump?

Secret Service Costs For Trump Family Outrageous

The Trumps have plenty of money, they keep telling us, so why the Hell should the United States government be paying for the security detail for his adult children.  Eighteen years of age should be the cut-off age for any president’s children.   It’s not like any of our recent presidents had money concerns.

2).  MAR-A-LAGO Shenanigans

This is a Member’s Only Club, OWNED BY TRUMP.  OMG!  OMG!!  OMG!!!  The initiation fee is $200,000.  Additionally, there is an annual membership dues of $14,000.  Trump and the crew admit to meeting secretly with donors, according to today’s headlines, while at Mar-a-Lago this weekend.  The citizens of this country are paying for these mini-vacations, at an estimated cost of 3 million dollars a weekend.

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Trips Cost over 3M per weekend

Where is the House Ethics Committee?  Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), shame, shame, shame, on you.  “Get off your ass, and do your job”, as your constituents told you at your televised Town Hall.  Who’s paying to have dinner with President Trump?  Who’s paying President Trump fees, and favors?  We don’t have the answer to that question, but we do know, that for a mere $200,000, you have a good chance of getting a word, or two, or, possibly more, with President Trump.

3).  Open Your Wallets

The Trump Organization is renting to the Secret Service “a floor, or two,” at the Trump Tower, in NYC for 1.5 million dollars a year, per floor.

Trump Tower Could Present Conflict of Interest

So, whether it is 1.5 million or 3 million, it’s a fuckin’ lot of money.   It looks bad.  The question of conflict of interest, cannot be ignored.

Why isn’t the Secret Service renting across the street?  I don’t know how other people feel, but I don’t like the government paying Trump, to guard him at Trump Tower.  The President should be providing the space free of charge.

4). Trump Pockets $55,000 Against FEC Regulations

The Daily Beast reports that the Trump campaign, at Donald J. Trump’s direction, in 2016 paid $55,000 to buy a bunch of his unsold books.  Apparently, the rag was re-named for the campaign, Great Again-How to Fix Our Crippled America.  So that you understand this, Trump used donor money given to his campaign to further enrich himself.

Trump Illegally Sells His Book To His Campaign

His campaign bought the book to give to Republican National Convention delegates.  So far, so good.  HOWEVER, Trump then had the campaign send the cash back to him.  FEC regulations prohibit candidates from putting donor money in their pockets.

Furthermore, Huffington Post reported Trump jacked up rents once the RNC started picking up expenses.  So the size of the rip off isn’t important, getting the better or someone, anyone, seems to be the number one rule.

The sitting President of the United States and his crew seem to have a limitless capacity for scamming anyone within their line of sight, in this case his donors.   It doesn’t matter, $5, $10, $1,000, or, as in this case, $55,000. Trump and his associates just run one cheap ass scam after another.  Disgusting.  Yeah, disgusting.

5). Putin Orders Psych Report on Trump

I heard someone say, “Putin is having buyer’s remorse.”  LOL.

I want to know why.  Why are the Russians leaking this information?

6).  Trump’s Executive Order, “The Muslim Ban”

No one seems to be talking about it, but the travel ban affected over 15,000 medical doctors.  Most of these physicians serve rural access hospitals.

Trump Blames Obama For His Own Poor Performance
“I inherited a mess!”

I haven’t seen any numbers, on how many nurse’s and other adjunct medical personnel were affected, but I can imagine 10,000 individuals, or 30,000.  I’ll update if I see any more statistics.

The negative effect on these small vulnerable communities is hard to communicate.  I would like to see more thought and less bluster from this administration.   And a lot more heart.

7).  “A Fine-Tuned Machine,” Trump Tells American People

The President of the United States, looks puffy eyed into the camera lens, and lies and lies.  He lies when he doesn’t need to.  He lies, just to keep in practice. “I inherited a mess, a mess,” he says, and I have replaced it with, “a fine-tuned machine.” .

A Finely Fucked Machine

From my West Coast bunker, I’d call it, “a finely fucked machine”.

I have a message for our newly elected president.  President Trump, I am watching and listening.  Some of us, according to the polls approximately 60%, recognize a lie when they hear it.  Gallup Poll showed a 39% Favorability rating for Trump.

Sad, but not surprising.  When you are a jerk from Queens, you remain a jerk from Queens.  “If you’re born round, you won’t die square,” I’ve heard said.

8).  We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia, Trump Jr said in 2008

In a contentious press conference on February 16, 2017, President Trump lashed out at reporters who dared question him about his Russian ties.  Trump denied associations to Russia. “I own nothing in Russia.  I have no loans in Russia.  I don’t have any deals in Russia.”

It is well known however, that for the last 30 years, Trump, or surrogates, have made frequent business trips to Russia, participated in multiple deals in Russia, and has engaged in financial dealings with wealthy Russians in the US and around the world.
