God Does Not Exist- Dr. Michael Shermer

I am thankful that we are living in an era where we can question religion without being burned at the stake. Dr. Michael Shermer made this video in 2013. Shermer gives an excellent lecture on the subject of why religion makes no sense. “God Does Not Exist” is the title. It is in two parts. Be sure to listen to both. His logic is compelling.

A recent poll indicates that 26% of Americans call themselves Atheists. Thirty-six per cent of millennials reject religion. Many other Americans call themselves “spiritual” versus “religious”. Finding meaning in life is no longer tied to religion. Reason and science hopefully will clear the way for humanism. When we let go of God there are consequences. One of those consequences is that we are suddenly responsible for our actions with no gift of  “life after death” by a deathbed embrace of Christ.

An Alternative To Going Satanic

Introduction

Hello, my name is Reverend David Shadrick, although I prefer Dave.  Some of you may recognize me as the SEO Manager here at www.calamitypolitics.com.  This is my second article responding to a publication done by another author.  The article in question for today’s response is the recent article on LaVeyan Satanism and I’d like to offer an alternative to going Satanic.

Leaving Traditional Faiths

There is a feeling that organized religions are letting people down

There is a feeling that organized religions are letting people down.

Currently, there has been a move from religion to spirituality.  There is a feeling that organized religion doesn’t offer an alternative to going Satanic.  With shootings, sexual abuse, and the feeling that much of what the ministers preach is out of line with the teachings of Jesus many people feel that church isn’t the place to practice their faith.

Spirituality vs. Religion

To better explain why Spirituality is an alternative to going Satanic, here is a joke that sums up why people feel more spiritual than religious.  With spirituality, God is all good, everywhere, all the time.  With religion, God puts all of His children in a room full of books and tells them “I’m going out for a while.  Read these books and when I get back tell me which one is correct.”  When God comes back He takes all the children who picked the right book out for ice cream, the rest He sets on fire.

LaVeyan Satanism: The Devil’s Advocates

Shades of Grey

Anton LaVey looking mysterious

Anton LaVey wrote the Satanic Bible.

Things are rarely as they seem. Even the notion of “seeing is believing” can be problematic, due to the very personal way humans process information. The perception we have of LaVeyan Satanism for one.

Mistaken Identification

All we have to do is look at mistaken “eye-witness” identifications. Many eye-witness accounts are later proven incorrect, based on DNA evidence. Not to mention the wide variances in meaning for very straight-forward words.  I’m just asking that you keep an open mind while I explain LaVeyan Satanism’s core beliefs.

Did You Say Satan?

One such word, guaranteed to evoke a specific response is Satanism. For good reason things are not as clear at they might seem. There is a gulf of difference between what is called “theological” Satanism and the more philosophical interpretation known as LaVeyan Satanism.

Schools of Thought

In opposition to LaVeyan Satanism, Theological Satanism, what most people think of when they meet the term, is an extreme minority religion that is a mirror image of Christianity in which rather than worshiping God followers worship the Devil in the literal sense. It is fair to think of this form of Satanist basically as inverted Christians.

Sins of Theological Satanism

They are also the ones most likely to commit acts of violence like rape, murder, animal abuse and vandalism, especially church burning. They are also an extreme minority, not only in terms of the general population but also among Satanist themselves. The reason that they have become so large in the public imagination is a concerted campaign of lies and misinformation in the early 1990’s.

Satanic Ritual Abuse

Holy Bible and crucifix

Despite the hysteria around Satanic Ritual Abuse, of which there has never been a single confirmed case, which is more than can be said of other religious sects. From doomsday cults to radical Mormons to mainstream Catholicism, LaVeyan Satanists are a lot more sane and considered in their beliefs.

Essentially Atheism

Essentially Atheists in terms of spiritualism LaVeyan Satanists, by far the most common in the modern context, have no literal belief in the Biblical Satan. They are not agents of evil nor do they really believe in it in a metaphysical sense. Generally, this form of Satanism uses the figure of Satan symbolically to represent rebellion and freedom.

Evil Backwards Spells Live

The origins of modern, LaVeyan Satanism go back to The Church of Satan and its founder Anton LaVey. It can be difficult to understand how anyone can see anything good even in the metaphorical figure of Satan and LaVey was one of the first to figure out why.

Grilled on Television

When called upon to explain himself during an appearance on the Joe Pyne Show in 1970, LaVey put it this way: “Everybody that’s made rules and regulations concerning the devil or the devil’s work, the devil’s activities have been people that have been very righteous people, people during crusades.” He later went further, stating that “for centuries both church and laymen have defined the Devil according to their needs, all the while playing the game of muzzling the enemy.”

COMMENT & OPINION: 21 Savage’s Deportation Is Not Just Racist, It’s Religious Bigotry

COMMENT & OPINION: 21 Savage’s Deportation is Not Just Racist, it’s Religious Bigotry

By Quinton Reed

Friendly Reminder

Our nation is a nation of immigrants. We stole land from the indigenous peoples hundreds of years ago and made it ours. Why? The Separatists in the United Kingdom sought religious freedom from the Church of England.

Skip Forward

Statue of Puritan Separatist William Bradford who claimed Plymouth

Under the leadership of William Bradford, the Puritan Separatists made a pilgrimage across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Mayflower. The party landed in the ‘new world’ where they established a colony in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is a familiar story. Without admission that they claimed land which was not theirs to claim. We are taught that the theft was a thing of greatness.  American schools, from elementary through high school perpetuate that base lie. Yet, here we are in 2019, attempting to wall off our borders. Take the case of 21 Savage.

A Little More History

Sheyaa Bin Abraham Joseph, better known as 21 Savage, is a 26-year-old rapper, songwriter, and record producer based in Atlanta, Georgia. On February 3rd, 2019, Abraham Joseph’s vehicle was pulled over and he was arrested by ICE (The U.S. Immigrations and Custom’s Enforcement) due to his and his passengers’ involvement in aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Gang Act. After his arrest, ICE revealed that Abraham Joseph was an unlawful occupant of the United States, due to an expired visa.

Bridging the Gap

At first glance, 21 Savage’s arrest seems textbook; an immigrant of color with a markedly un-European name is arrested due to suspected gang activity and is found to have  overstaying his welcome. However, the details of 21 Savage’s case are more complicated than a simple case of ICE-saves-the-day-from-outsiders-once-again.

First of all

ICE and Abraham-Joseph’s legal team can’t agree on simple facts. ICE claims he emigrated at or around the age of fourteen, while the legal team insists he emigrated at the age of seven. ICE claims he has a previous conviction, and the legal team says he does not.

Childhood Visa

It is not as if Abraham-Joseph has made no attempt to legalize his stay in the United States. His Mother entered the United States with an H-2 visa, an employment visa for service industries. 21 Savage entered with an H-4, which is essentially the derivative of the H-2 visa for a child.

Georgia is Unwelcoming

Alex Spiro, a well-known celebrity lawyer claims that when Savage’s visa expired, he application for a U visa (a visa to protect victims of crime and their families) in 2014 and again in 2017, and–whether this is true or not–it isn’t at all unbelievable, given that Georgia is among the worst states for immigrants seeking citizenship; the denial of asylum is 95% percent where the national average is between 45-50%. Furthermore, 21 Savage may be eligible for bond, based on the statements of his attorneys, meaning he was detained without bond despite potential eligibility.

Killings Mar Palm Sunday

ABC News were one of the first to report 2 Coptic church bombings in Egypt. The churches were miles apart, the first attack coming in Tanka, Egypt, a Nile Delta city. The bombing came during Palm Sunday services at St. George’s Church. Investigators state that the device was placed close to the altar, leading to the severe injury of priests and choir members. ISIS has already proclaimed responsibility for the bombing which at current count killed 27, and wounded 78 others, per Egypt state television.

Coptic Christian Church In Alexandria, Egypt Attacked By ISIS

Hours later, St. Mark’s Church in Alexandria, Egypt was attacked by a suicide bomber. In Alexandria, it is being reported that the security patrol assigned to St. Mark’s stopped a terrorist with an explosive belt from breaking onto the church grounds. The explosion occurred close to the church gate. The terrorist blew himself up at the gate. The detonation killed the policeman who stopped him and a policewoman and citizens within the bomb’s explosive zone. Blood and body parts were strewn around the sight. The stores surrounding the church were totally destroyed. ISIS, through it’s media wing, Amaq, took credit for the killing of 16 and the wounding of 41.
