In my younger years, way back in college, my first year, for a term or two, I was a Psychology/Sociology major. I’ve always been interested in what makes people behave the way they do. I later switched to nursing and it was a lot of the same, trying to figure out what made people tick. As an RN I worked 1NW OHSU Crisis Psychiatry Unit, Portland, OR, for many years before retraining for Cardiac ICU about 20 years into my 45 year long nursing career. I ‘ve left that life behind, and I am now retired from nursing and currently writing and editing full time. So, as a writer I’m still interested in what makes people behave the way they do.

Right now Trump has a 37% approval rating in the national polls. I get that 1% of that 37% are billionaires, and are happy as hell, but what about the remaining 36%? Do these Trump supporters really feel good about 15 million people losing health care, hundreds of hospitals and clinics closing across the country, health care premiums going through the roof, the end of science in this country, the end of cancer research, DOGE plowing through all our private information, the destruction of “due process,” the rise of the oligarchs, the federal government shut down, or the firing of 100’s of 1,000’s of government workers?
Be Happy…Until
Well, all I can say to the Trumper crowd, is, be happy….until it’s your grandma’s nursing home closes and she has nowhere to go except home with a family member, or till your dad’s social security check is held up because DOGE decided he was really dead, or my God, your daughter’s new husband who spent a weekend in the sun doing yard work and was now suspiciously dark, and aroused the interest of prowling ICE agents, who arrested him, and sent him someplace-they can’t remember, or refuse to tell the judge.
Off The Rails
Now, me on the other hand, I think Trump has been crazy for a lot of years. None of this BS started on January 20, 2025. The implementation of the 2025 Project is being pushed by rich guys like Larry Ellison and Russell Vought not Trump. According to recent news stories Larry Ellison, not an elected official, has become our shadow president.
No Real Surprise
I’m not surprised. Donald Trump can’t wipe his ass without help, so why would we expect that he can run the country. I’m pretty sure our fuckin’ pretend president careened off the rails sometime before 2020. Remember in April of 2020 our fearless leader, commonly known as President Dumb Ass, told the American people to inject bleach to kill COVID-19. They should have dumped him with a 25th Amendment call after that absurdity. However, he lumbered on until beaten in the election of 2020 by Joe Biden.
AND now, as of January 20th, 2025, HE’S BACK:
Shocking and Surprising
How can Trump, after telling the American people to start injecting bleach to cure COVID-19 even face the country, much less suggest that Biden is a criminal SOB? I suggest it’s because Trump is even crazier now in 2025, than he was in 2020. His dementia is on full display, every ‘effin day. I would be astounded if Trump has put three sensible sentences together since the inauguration. He’s a cartoon; but the only people laughing are those insiders destroying our country. Trump and his diaper brigade keeps shocking me, surprising me; a couple of times a day, as a matter of fact.
No, No, Not Normal
He is just getting crazier and crazier. And those around him just smile, shrug their shoulders and act as if it is all normal…. but, those of us with eyes in our heads, scream, “NO!” this is not normal. I swear to you, being old doesn’t automatically mean frailty, illness, and dementia, it is however a reality with many elders and denying the possibility in our president, is just foolish.
And The Dems?
Hopefully the 63% of Americans who disagree with shadow President Ellison’s implementation of Project 2025 policies are spending days calling their lawmakers, nights making protest signs, and week-ends protesting. We have got to put an end to this insanity. The hope that the Vice President and a majority of the cabinet would have the cojones to invoke the 25th Amendment and declare to the world that Trump is incapable of performing the duties of president is a fantasy. So, without a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate there is no chance for Impeachment and removal from office.
Crazy ‘Ol Fucker
Trump is a sick man. I mean, fucking demented sick, and should under no circumstances have access to the nuclear codes, or anything more complicated than a baby’s rattle. Now…. if you are like me and at least 63% of the country who think Trump is an out of control crazy old fucker who is being manipulated by rich and powerful interests, you must toss aside cynicism and vote. After the last election I spoke to dozens of people who did not vote, “cuz politicians are all the same.”
I Disagree
That is not true. Politicians are people-and each is unique, with different core values. One thing that would help to restore faith in our government process is to enact strong ethics laws with jail time kind of consequences and most definitely term limits. But then each citizen needs to commit to participate in government by knowing the policies of the candidates and voting for the issues and not the latest quacking culture-war mantra that hits the airwaves.
Tsunami Time
The Dems and the Independents need to form a coalition of progressive voters who vote faithfully in every election, starting with the school board through the federal elections. In a democracy, “we the people” are the government, and those elected officials are supposed to represent our majority interests and the best way to insure that representation is to vote. Not just vote for the loudest best funded voice in the house but vote for people who’s policies align closest to your needs. The government is here to serve the many, and right now, the lack of participation of many citizens has the government bending over backwards to serve the few. The Democrats and Independents need to bring a blue tsunami to Washington, D.C. and turn this government around before we lose our democracy.
***Don’t forget to come out on October 18, 2025 to protest against Trump and Project 2025, and scream your head off and keep screaming, “No Kings, here.”
